Books that will make your summer more enjoyable: Tips from the Du Coeur team

Sun, a deck chair and a story that won't let you sleep. Summer is the perfect time to immerse yourself in books – whether they're new or tried-and-true classics. We asked the Du Coeur team what they'll be reading this holiday season – and what they'd recommend you pack for your holiday with a clear conscience.

Kristýna Č. recommends The Great Summer and plans to read the classic by Márquez:
"I'm currently reading The Time of the Wasp , but I'd probably reread The Great Summer by Evald Arenz in the summer - it seems like a book for the holidays. Or Three Apples Fallen from the Sky, I borrowed it from Kamča and I'd also take it on holiday. And this year I'll probably take One Hundred Years of Solitude with me and fill in the gaps."

Žaneta recommends powerful stories – Delia Owens and Fredrik Backman:
" Where the Crayfish Sing by Delia Owens. And then Grandma Says Hello and Apologizes by Fredrik Backman."

Kristýna Š. has a tip for lovers of summer romance:
"I'll throw in a little romance. Love after Spain by Elena Armas!"

Kamila remembers Vzdeláná and also reaches out to Arenz:
"I'm currently reading The Golden House by Salman Rushdie. Four Weddings and a Funeral is perfect for the summer, or Old Varieties by Arenz. And I read The Educated the summer before last, I really liked it!"

Veronika loves the atmosphere of old travelogues by Čapek:
"I fell in love with Čapek's travelogues over the summer. The atmosphere he describes takes you there, and it's very interesting to see what a given place looked like a hundred years ago - and how many things haven't really changed. For me, it's more of a short read, for example on public transport."

Rosalie has a weakness for the classics – Hemingway, Forster and summer poetry:
" The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway or A Room with a View by Forster. Both take place in warm regions, everything has a lot of summer atmosphere, drinking and partying with friends, long days and warm nights and lots of life. For poetry, Lord Byron - Don Juan or anything by Joan Didion is great."

We wish you a wonderful summer, according to your wishes. And let us know which book you are packing!
